Station Approach is one of nine key projects identified in the Public Realm Strategy. The strategy sets out nine areas that could be remodeled to improve the appearance of the town and make it easier to move around.


Station Approach

Further to a successful public consultation in summer 2007 a series of public realm improvements are underway on the frontage of Dover Priory Station and the section of Folkestone Road between the Folkestone Road railway bridge and the junction with Effingham Street.

 

Priory Steps

 

Improvements will include :-

  • Refurbishments to the pavements on Folkestone Road including new surfacing and widening where possible.
  • A new wide set of access steps between Folkestone Road and the station frontage.
  • Creation of a new landscaped embankment between the Folkestone Road and Station Approach Road.
  • New hard landscaping, street furniture and lighting throughout the station frontage.
  • Construction of a new canopy for shuttle bus and taxi users.
    A new direct access between the Priory Steps and the station frontage.

Completion due: March 2010
