Public Realm
The Public Realm Strategy idenitifies nine
key areas in Dover that could be remodeled to
improve its appearance and make it easier to move
around the town.
Public realm is any outside area that is used by the
public, it includes parks, town squares, and streets.
The nine areas identified in Dover are: The Market Square, Dover
Priory Station and the surrounding area, York Street, the Seafront,
Townwall Street, the Western Heights, the area between Castle
Street and the Castle, Pencester Gardens, and the River Dour.
There have also been twenty-five possible lighting projects
outlined, these include many of our most prominent and historic
buildings, as well as natural features such as the river. Lighting
projects have already been completed on Dover Priory Station and Maison Dieu House.
